The Browser Gap

October 19th, 2005

As if!

Gap.com doesn't support Safari As if we web designers didn’t bend over backwards and go out of our way enough to support inferior browsers like Microsoft Internet Explorer (why is Explorer inferior?), certain websites now have the gall to block me from using their website with my favorite browser, Safari (arguably one of the best browsers available).

I can only assume that Gap doesn’t want my money. I wrote them a long letter expressing my exasperation. They wrote back, saying that they are trying to “improve the shopping experience for everyone”. Except me, I take it.

This kind of thing really pisses me off to. Not only that, but it also makes me question the professionalism of the people these big companies hired to make their websites.

Yeah, really. What were these people thinking? Safari is just as good as/better than (definitely better than in terms of looks of textboxes, etc.) Firefox. Any real web designer knows this.

I just emailed them again the other day. Still the same response. I guess they still don't want me to shop there.
